About Us

Family owned since 2003, beginning with 33 storage units growing over the years to 217 storage units. Founded by A. Ray Kegans and managed by him until 2009. In 2010 the facility went into a family trust and managed by step-son and trustee, Mike Richardson.

In 2014, 19 non-climate controlled units were added to the original 33 units. In 2015, 32 more non-climate controlled units were built. In 2016, 31 non-climate controlled units and 22 climate controlled units were constructed.

In 2020 ownership of the property was passed to brother and sister Mike Richardson and Vicki Boyd. Mike is a retired Houston Fire Fighter and Vicki is retired from Shepherd ISD. Both are native Polk Countians, growing up in Livingston and attending Livingston schools. After ownership was passed to the siblings they added the final 83 units in 2021, all climate controlled.

Mike and Vicki manage the facility. Being family owned and operated, customer service is a very high priority at Home Town Mini Storage. We don't just rent you a storage unit and forget about you, if you need assistance, give us a call. Vicki will be taking your phone calls so you will always get a live person when you call, not an automated system. You will see Mike around the property from time to time doing routine maintenance.

Security is important to us at Home Town Mini Storage. We have keypad operated gates and security cameras, both of which can be monitored remotely with a cell phone or computer enhancing security. We recommend you use a disc lock for your unit door rather than a regular padlock for even more security. Remember, this is "Self Storage, You Keep The Key".  Rent with Home Town Mini Storage and your belongings will be in good hands.
