Family owned since 2003. Founded by A. Ray Kegans and managed by him until 2009. In 2010 the facility went into a family trust, managed by step-son and trustee, Mike Richardson.
Mike is now the president and half owner of the company with 14 years' experience in the self-storage industry. Under the oversight of Mike, 5 new storage buildings were constructed growing the facility from 33 units to 217 units. Prior to entering into self-storage ownership and management, Mike was a senior captain with the Houston Fire Department retiring after 30 years of service.
Vicki Boyd is vice-president and half owner of the company and has 4 years' experience in the self-storage industry. Prior to entering into self-storage ownership and management, Vicki worked for the Shepherd Independent School District and the State of Texas retiring after 20 years of service.
In 2014 under the oversight of Mike, 19 non-climate controlled units were added to the original 33 units. In 2015, 32 more non-climate controlled units were built. In 2016, 31 non-climate controlled units and 22 climate-controlled units were constructed.
In 2020 ownership of the property passed from the family trust to brother and sister, Mike and Vicki. Under their oversight an 83-unit climate-controlled building was added to the facility bringing the total number of storage units to 217.
Mike and Vicki are native Polk Countians, growing up in Livingston and attending Livingston schools. Being family owned and operated, customer service is a very high priority at Home Town Mini Storage. We don't just rent you a storage unit and forget about you, if you need assistance, give us call. Vicki will be taking your phone calls so you will always get a live person when you call, not an automated system. You will see Mike around the property from time to time doing routine maintenance.
